Trudie Nagle
Executive Principal
, Bairnsdale Secondary College

Currently the Executive Principal of Bairnsdale Secondary College. I began teaching in the Secondary system as a PE, Health, Outdoor teacher – yes, I was one of those who spent my time on mountains skiing and then paddling and coaching a million sports teams.

I loved the connection with the students and the relationships. I was always mindful that at times, the bigger picture that was on offer “wasn’t good enough or wasn’t specified enough or simply safe enough” to cater for the huge range of students that walk in the door. After years in the Secondary system and attaining an Assistant Principal position, I moved into a Principal role in the Primary sector and “man was I on a learning curve”! After 13 years there – I have moved back to a Secondary Principal role in Bairnsdale. Yes, this school was labelled the “Worst school in Victoria, likely Australia” 3 years ago! This is going to be some ride!
