In 2022 Australian schools are experiencing increased classroom disruption, student behaviour, discipline issues, self-harm, suicide ideation, and other maladaptive coping issues. These are some of the key trending topics for Australian (across all sectors and ages). In this session Kristen explores the surge of dysregulation of students and refocuses school wellbeing approaches to immediately respond and regulate classrooms, physical school environments, as well as online environments. Kristen also explores practical skills and strategies for school leaders and educators in understanding prevention and early intervention and a panacea of strategies available to Victorian schools.

Kristen Douglas is the Head of Headspace Schools & Communities (Nationally) and leads a large team across the country delivering child and youth mental health strategies and approaches, among which is “Be You” the largest national mental health reform to be implemented in Australian schools. Her experience spans across leading national initiatives and reform agendas in the area of mental health & wellbeing, whole school improvement, suicide, critical incident response and recovery, natural disasters, and the broad panacea of prevention, early intervention, intervention, & postvention. Kristen also leads a worlds first suicide postvention service available to all Australian schools. Kristen presents both nationally and internationally on child & youth mental health, suicide, and other key issues.
