This workshop will canvas how Albert Park College raised numeracy standards through pedagogical and curriculum interventions. Strategies for implementing individual DET initiatives into enduring whole school approaches for lasting student improvement will be showcased. Participants will leave with an understanding of how multiple staff can be mobilised as champions for change as we strive towards excellence in both learning and wellbeing for every student.

Rachael is an innovative educator who is passionate about building excellence in teaching and learning. Her teaching is focused on research backed pedagogy known to optimise student performance whilst creating positive, high challenge classrooms. She is an engaged member of the teaching profession and who has delivered numerous professional development sessions for both classroom teachers and education leaders. As an instructional leader, she uses her deep knowledge and expertise in high-quality teaching and learning to develop knowledge and skills in fellow teachers through data-driven reflection which promotes creativity and staff empowerment. She is an experienced marker for external examinations in both state and international curriculums. In 2021, Rachael was awarded the Outstanding Secondary Teacher Award as part of the Victorian Education Excellence Awards. Rachael is the Leading Teacher for Numeracy and Head of Mathematics at Albert Park College. She teaches mathematics, physics, and the theory of knowledge across the IB, VCE, and Victorian Curriculums.
